Revolutionary War Patriot: son of Benjamin Howard and Phoebe (Dart) Howard, John served in the Lexington Alarm, April 1775 and the Battle of Fort Washington, where he was taken prisoner Nov 16, 1776 thru March 1777. During that time, John was prisoner at York Island and on one of two prison ships.
