Eugene B "Gene" Cannon, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Saturday July 16, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born July 12, 1923 in Normangee, Texas to Elbert and Ruth Cannon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joann, his son Dwight Cannon and his wife Tammey and granddaughters Alyssa and Kelsey Cannon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Gene was a veteran of the USAF from 1945 to 1953 and in his service to the Air Force he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Bronze Star for Central Burma Campaign and for the India Burma Campaign. His family and friends will miss Gene dearly, but will cherish the memories they have of him. We are at peace knowing Gene is no longer suffering and know he will be waiting for us on his porch swing in Heaven! Visitation will be Wed July 20th from 5-8pam with Eulogy at 8 at Baptist Temple, 230 W 20th Street in the Heights. Burial will be at 10am Thursday the 21st of July at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Houston.
