Jessie was the son of Spencer and Relief McConnell Wood. Jessie's father died when he was very young and his mother never remarried. Jessie was born in Pike County, MO and resided there his entire life.
(I have the family bible of the Gibsons and Jessie's half sister, Marinda Wood, married Gilbert Shoemaker and their daughter, Margaret Alice Shoemaker, married Thomas Jefferson Gibson. I have a copy of Jessie's obituary which was pressed into the family bible, but it is in my safe deposit box at my bank. The Gibsons and Shoemakers are also buried in Mt. Zion, though not all of them have stones.)
