Mr. George D. Craighead died at 1 o'clock this morning at his residence, near Craighead Station, in South Middleton township. During late years his health declined and gradually the infirmities of old age loosened his grasp upon life. For some time past his family were in daily expectation of his death. He was 82 years and 3 months old. He was born in South Middleton township and spent his entire life on the farm where he died. Early in life he wagoned to Baltimore. Later he engaged entirely in farming and was always a hard worker and largely successful. For many years--between 30 and 40--he was a director in the Carlisle Deposit Bank and was in office at the time of his death. He was also a director in one or two fire insurance companies. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and was actively identified with its board of trustees. For some years he filled the office of Justice of the Peace.

He never shirked laborious tasks and worked unceasingly as long as health permitted. In his township and wherever he was known he commanded the highest respect and esteem. He was courteous in manner, careful in business, kindly in disposition and at all times manifested the great concern for the welfare of others.

Within the circle of his family and immediate relatives the influence of his life will long survive and his many loving deeds will never be forgotten. He is survived by four daughters, viz: Mrs J Scott Woods, Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs Philip Harman, Mt Holly Springs; Misses Ida V and Jane B, at home; also 14 grand children. The funeral will be held from his late residence at 1 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Old Graveyard in this place.
