My family first met Kathy when I was six months old. We had moved from Long Island, NY to Severna Park, MD and she was the first to welcome us to the community. She came bearing iced tea and a warm smile. It was an instant friendship. My two older brothers and I grew up with her three boys (all older than myself) and so we became one big, extended family. When my Dad and Grandma fell ill, it was Kathy who pulled us through. She was always there for us, day or night. And when they passed, it was her who pulled us through.
We learned, fifteen months ago, that she had cancer. Intially she was given weeks to survive. Kathy surprised EVERYONE but living a year longer than expected. And boy did she live! Kathy always did things her way. She was a fighter and a believer. And she was infectious. You couldn't help but believe things would be better, would be brighter when she was around. She was by far the sweetest most caring person I have ever known. The world will be a little colder without her charming light. She will be missed by many. God knows we (my family) loved her a lot. And I know her boys do too. She raised her family right, and it shows. She will be missed, but it's true - God only takes the best. But that doesn't stop us from wishing He had left her behind just a little bit longer. We will miss her greatly. She took our hearts with her when she left us.
Cause of death: Cancer.
