Frances W. Pitts

Frances W. Pitts, 95, died April 3 at the Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington, Wash.
Frances was born on May 17, 1909 in Ada, Okla. She graduated from Horace Mann High School, then East Central State Teachers College on May 18, 1927. On June 1, 1939 she married Clarence F. Pitts, who died Oct. 25, 1980. Their first daughter Phyliss Ann died in 1940.
They moved to California in 1941. There she taught in La Puente, Pomona and Chino school districts. Retired from teaching, she became a member of the California Retired Teachers Association.
Frances was initiated into the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #159 in Oklahoma in February of 1935; she was also affiliated with the Chino Valley Chapter #330 and the Tehachapi Chapter #313 where she was a past Matron.
Frances is survived by two daughters, Kathy Gutierrez (Tony) of Arlington, Wash. and Dana Britain (Rex) of Bullhead City, Ariz.; sister Sylvia Brantley of Ada, Okla.; granddaughters Lori Kirkus, Dana Johnson, Katie Vertrees and Gina Castro; grandsons Daniel Garcia and Bill Britain; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and entombment was held at Pomona Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum in Pomona. Arrangements were entrusted to Draper Mortuary of Ontario.
