Actor. Best known for his role as Andrew, the Angel of Death on the popular CBS television show "Touched By An Angel." Born in Mississippi, Dye majored in theater at the University of Memphis. He made his film debut in 1984's "Making the Grade," which filmed in the Memphis area, before moving to Los Angeles in 1986. Other film roles included appearances in "Modern Girl" and "Campus Man." He struggled for several years before finally achieving success, mostly on television with guest appearances on such shows as "The Young and the Restless," and "Murder, She Wrote." In 1995, he landed the role of Andrew on CBS's "Touched By an Angel." Originally a recurring role, Dye was promoted to regular by the third season. He remained on the series until its end in 2003. John often made appearances in Memphis and Mississippi to participate in charity and theater events. His last role was in "Fist of the Warrior" (2007). (bio by: Robert Patterson)
