Floyd served as a Sergeant, 396th Bomber Squadron, 41st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 31, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted as being employed as a Filling Station Attendant and also as Married.

Floyd was declared "Missing In Action" near Taroa Island during the war and was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
