Deborah Merrill (Weir) Rae loved life. She delighted in the sunrise, the waves of Torch Lake, every blossom in her garden, the birds which came to her feeder, any dog who crossed her path and every person she met. Most of all, she adored her husband, the love of her life, Robert Rae. They were married on September 29, 2009.
Debbie left her husband, family and friends in the early morning hours of March 1, 2014, with her husband beside her at their AuSable Township home, following a courageous and graceful battle with lung cancer and emphysema.
Deborah was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Maxine Weir, brother Steven Weir and stepson Eric Rae. She is survived by her husband Robert Rae, sister Kim Weir (Robert) Snyder of Naples Fla, stepson Casey Rae of California, nephew, Dr. Christopher (Jennifer) Dollar of Rochester, niece Catherine Dollar (Donald Simmons of Clarkston, sister-in-law Karen (Roy) McNish of Clarkston, Nancy (Dave) Neal of Ann Arbor, JoAnn (Forrest) Hayes of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and best friends Holly Nelson and Linda Fonger.
Deborah was born in Bad Axe, Mi and later moved to Traverse City. She graduated from Carmen HS in Flint, Michigan.
