Brother of Eugene Roger, James Alton & Dorothy Jane Davis.
Wilfred served as a Second Lieutenant & Navigator on on B-24D #42-41089, 65th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Addison County, Vermont prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 30, 1941 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of automobiles and also as Single, without dependents.
Wilfred was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 crashed at 2:30am, from reasons unknown, in Pompom Valley, six miles south of Jacksons Airdrome, Port Moresby, New Guinea, after takeoff on a photo reconnaissance mission during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
