Elwin served as a 2nd Lt., 106th Infantry, 27th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Caledonia County, Vermont prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in Lyndonville, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
Elwin was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was originally interred in Saipan, 27th Division Cemetery, Marianas Islands and was later repatriated here on February 11, 1949.
