Grant served as a Sergeant, Company L, 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Orleans County, Vermont prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Actor and also as Single, without dependents. He was immediately given the rank of Corporal when he enlisted.
Grant was "Killed In Action" on the Solomon Islands during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was originally interred in Guadalcanal and was later repatriated here on January 12, 1950.
