Peru Tribune
KENDALLVILLE - Thomas Bruce Brown passed away on Dec. 6, 2013.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1947, in Akron, Ohio. Tom would also enjoy growing up in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Peru, in addition to spending many summers with his family in Glenville, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Brown and his mother, Dortha Snyder-Pepper.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jean Brown; his two sons, Jeremy Brown and Jordan Brown; and his grandson, Skyler Brown. Tom is also survived by his four other siblings: Kevin Brown, Kathy Pepper, Amber Pepper and Joseph Pepper.
Tom and his wife, Jeanie, were married on July 20, 1969, and became members of Saint John's Lutheran Church in Peru in 1972. Tom began a 38 year-long foundry career in 1970 with Peru Foundry. Throughout that time he would have the opportunity to work in Sydney, Ohio; Marion; Columbus; Rushville; Tyler, Texas; Three Rivers, Mich., and Kendallville. Tom left the foundry life behind him as a core-room supervisor and worked his last four years of employment in management at Wal-Mart in Kendallville before retiring at the age of 65.
Tom and his wife had many close family friends and enjoyed many social gatherings with them. Ask any of their friends about the New Years Eve parties that they hosted and you're bound to hear someone mention Tom and his laughter and wit. Many of Tom's colleagues from the foundry industry knew Tom as a prankster. He loved to interact with people and do what he could to make them smile. Anyone who knows Tom or his family knows that they celebrate life with food. For Tom, food was an unspoken way to share love, happiness and friendship, and not just by the delicious meals that he made, but also by his generosity in the food that he gave to people who couldn't afford to have any. Tom had so many good attributes that he couldn't help but to touch the lives of those who knew him. He will be remembered and missed dearly.
The best part of Tom's life was spent in Peru, where he began and raised his family. In honor of his last wishes, his funeral proceedings will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home on Dec. 12, and then interred at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru immediately following the funeral proceedings.
Any memorial offerings can be made on behalf of Tom Brown to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, which is entrusted with the arrangements. The funeral home can be reached at 105 W. Third St. Peru, IN 46970 or 765-473-6674.
In parting, his family prays that the Lord bless Tom and keep him; may the Lord make his face shine upon him and be gracious unto him, and may he look upon him with favor and give him peace. Amen.
Services will be Held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
Arrangements were entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
