Husband of Mrs. Edwilda Lucile S. Cote.

Leonard served as a Fire Controlman, Second Class, USS Monaghan (DD-354), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in St. Albans, Franklin County, Vermont prior to the war.

Leonard died in the "Line Of Duty" when the Monaghan sunk during Typhoon Cobra east of Manila during the war. He was awarded the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
