The funeral was Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Loogootee with interment in church cemetery.
A legion of Mary rosary was prayed at 4:40 p.m. and a parish rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home.
He was born January 14, 1922 in Martin County to Harley and Helen Turner Smith. He married Lela Jones April 23, 1946 and she survives. He was member of St. John's Catholic Church in Loogootee, the American Legion of Shoals and Disabled American Veterans. He was a World War II veteran. He was retired from the NWSC, Crane and was county assessor for Martin County for four years. He was presently a County Veteran Service Officer.
Surviving are his wife and two sons and two daughters, Craig Smith, Greenwood, and Carey Smith, Jeffersonville, and Carla Hall, Jasper, Miss Connie Smith Loogootee, six grandchildren and one brother, Ed Smith of Hudson, Ohio.
