ELM GROVE, LA-Services for James Cody Rodgers, 85, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Koran Baptist Church with Bro. George Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. "Military Rites will be conducted by the 12th District Dept. of LA, Veterans of Foreign Wars-HONOR GUARD." Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

James entered into rest to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 21, 2011.

James was born February 12, 1926 in Bossier City, LA to Freddie A. and Arnita Hutton Rodgers. He was the retired owner of Rodgers Marina. He was a member of Koran Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and Marines during WWII. He was a charter member of the Koran Chapter of the American Legion Post #388, the 40 and 8th, Masonic Lodge #380, VFW Post #4588, Bossier Parish Sheriff's Posse, Deen's Deputies and a founding member of the South Bossier Fire District #2.

His wife, Margaret Ruth Rodgers and grandchildren, Joseph and Mark Nixon preceded him in death.

He is survived by sons, James (Jimmy) Rodgers and wife Vickie of Bossier City, LA, Pat Rodgers of Chattanooga, TN; daughters, Deborah Gray and husband Rickey of Taylor, LA, Jo Nixon of Molino, FL, Georgie Wright and husband Freddie of Elm Grove, LA; sister, Marie Abbott of Shreveport, LA; brother, William (Bill) Rodgers of Elm Grove, LA; grandchildren, Rickey Gray, Jr., James Gregory Rodgers (Saint), Larry Joe House, Kathy Jo Walker, Charles Rodgers, Jamie Rodgers, Angel House-Stefaniak, Matthew Nixon, Amanda Rodgers, Abigail Wright and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the South Bossier Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Koran Baptist Church or to the South Bossier Fire Department.
