Joel Loniel (known as Joe) Brickey, husband of Ruby Dale Martin, son of Hubert and Nora White Brickey. Named for his paternal grandfather, Joel Allen Brickey. Born in Madill, Oklahoma, he attended Prairie Valley School in 1931. He was an excellent mechanic, and lived at Lordsburg, NM for many years. He worked with his father at the Shell Service Station near Gary, as well as the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a mechanic at the "Tower" service station at Lordsburg, New Mexico for years. He was "Papa" to his grandchildren. He loved to hunt with them.
A member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was given a traditional military burial. His grandson, Wayne Lee, Jr. gave the eulogy.

Joe served in WWII 1942-1945. He was at Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland and Northern France.
He received wounds at the Battle of the Bulge on December 21, 1944. He received the Good Conduct Medal, EAME (Eastern/African Mediterranean and European Theatre Ribbon) Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart. He was a Half Track Driver, and a Marksman with the 30 caliber rifle. Issued a lapel ribbon.
He lost 55 days because of his wounds.
He enlisted from Nocona, Texas. Was with the Btry A 440th AAA (AW) Bn. (Anti-Aircraft Artillery)

Was an excellent father to Barbara JO Brickey Lee, (BENSON, AZ.) Patsy Brickey Johnston and Jimmy Glen Brickey (BOTH OF YUMA, AZ.). THEY ARE ALL GONE NOW. ​
