by zadalew: Elizabeth is my Step-3gGrandmother. I will not change Tamara's readings of date of birth and date of death. I agree that the dates do indeed appear just as she recorded them.
Because of the implications of the vital records on the stone, ie. that she died at 111 years, I decided to look further into available records to corroborate these readings. What I found was a case study in inconsistencies in family history records.
First, consider date of death, there is a record of payments to Elizabeth for her Widows Pension for Isham's Revolutionary War service. This indicates she died 15 Jun 1866. This nominally agrees with our reading of the tombstone date of death. Thus, I accept mid-June 1866 as a date of death.
Difficulty arises in setting even approximate year of birth because of data inconsistencies.
She appears in the 1830 Census with her stepson, A. Browder, in Hickman County as between 50 and 60 years old, calculated birth year 1780-1790.
She appears by name in 1850 and 1860 Censuses living with Robert Brown in Hopkins County, as 68 and 78 years respectively; calculated birth year 1782.
Elizabeth also applied for and received a widow's pension for Isham's service in the Revolutionary War. In that application, she declared that she was 78 years old in 1855. Birth year would calculate as 1777.
Mary Beadles in her book relating information about that Isham Browder family lists Elizabeth's vital records as b. 5 May 1775 m. Isham Browder 20 Dec 1810 in Woodford County KY and d. 14 Jun 1866 at 91 years, 25 days old. Beadles does not indicate a source for her data.
It thus appears we cannot be certain of a year of birth.
Isham Browder (1762 - 1830)*
Kitty Browder (1811 - 1813)*
Note: by Tamara: Wife of Isham. Hard to read but appears to be 1866 or 1860 as death yr.
