Sami H. Abulhosn, born on April 8, 1934, this loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 27, 2006 at the age of 72.
Sami was born in Bteknay, Lebanon to Hussien Abulhosn and Julia Abulhosn. The third of nine children, Sami immigrated to the United States in 1959 to pursue his education. After a wayward journey that sent him through much of the USA (and through a variety of odd jobs to help pay for his education), Sami finally settled in Seattle in 1963, receiving a master's degree from the University of Washington in 1966.
Sami's travels and various occupations provided many wonderful stories that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.
Sami married the love of his life, Afaf Slim, in 1968. Together they raised two children, Rajy and Makram, and were the proud grandparents of 5 adoring grandchildren.
Sami spent the majority of his professional career as a professor of accounting at North Seattle Community College, retiring in 1998. He took great pride in his work as an educator, and always took the opportunity to promote the importance of education.
In addition to once being a restauranteur, Sami enjoyed gardening, Seattle sports, and working on his summer home on Lake Chelan. Sami has been very involved with the North Seattle Community College Foundation, and his generosity has been felt not only within the Druze community but also amongst all Lebanese-Americans in the Seattle area.
His kindness has even reached as far as his homeland of Lebanon, as Sami has been a generous contributor to build a school and in supporting a medical clinic for the disadvantaged and poor in his hometown of Bteknay.
Sami was well-respected within his personal, professional, and business community. He enjoyed opening his homes to friends and family alike in both Chelan and Seattle. He was loved by all those who knew him, whether they had met him for a day or a lifetime.
Sami's legacy will be felt by many, as his warm heart and kindness extended to all who knew him as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend.
Sami is survived by his wife, Afaf, his children, Rajy Abulhosn, M.D. and wife, Kari and Makram Abulhosn, DPM and wife, Lynn, his 5 grandchildren, Isabella, Kian, Kira, Marques, and Brandon, and his brothers, Anwar, Salah, and Adel, and his sisters, Samia, Ibtihaj, Aida, and Eptisam, and numerous nieces and nephews.
