Delmas Leon Taylor departed this life May 23, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents James Henry Taylor, Sr. and Bettie Lee Archer Taylor; two brothers, Clyde A. Taylor, Sr. and Marvin S. Taylor, Sr.; and his only sister, Joyce Yvonne Taylor Vaughan.

He graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School in 1963.

He was a USMC Vietnam War Veteran and a Draftee with two tours to the war torn country.

After his tour of duty in the Marines, he attended and graduated from Virginia Union University (VUU). Later he received his Masters degree from Virginia State University.

He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, joining while attending VUU.

He taught in the Richmond Public Schools System as an Elementary School Teacher. He retired in 2005.

He is survived by his devoted wife Audrey J. Taylor, four brothers, James H., Archie Lee, Anthony C. (Gwenevere), and Kenneth W. Taylor, Sr.; four aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, 9 other sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, other relatives and many devoted friends.

He was a life member of Union Baptist Church.

Remains rested at the Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where his family received friends on Monday, May 28, 2007, from 4pm to 5pm. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at 1pm, at Union Baptist Church, 1813 Everett Street, where remains laid in state one hour prior to services. Rev. Robert C. Davis, pastor, officiated. Interment Maury Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the church Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at 12:45pm. Interment Maury Cemetery.
