OBITUARY: John W. Higgins
John William Higgins, the second child of, Hannah (TREON)and Emanuel Higgins was born in Flat Rock, Indiana on October 14, 1864, and died Dec 29, 1949 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma; at the age of 85 yrs, 3 mo. and 15 days, after an illness of four months.
When a child he moved to Breckinridge, MO. where he attended school.
In 1906, he came to Oklahoma and lived in and near Coweta the rest of his life.
John was married to Addie B. INFIELD in 1889. She preceded him in death, July 9, 1944.
Eleven children were born to this union, seven of whom are living.
Mr. Higgins was a quiet, unassuming man who kept his council well. After the death of his wife, he lived a lonely life. His chief interest was in his family and their welfare. John Higgins or Uncle John, as he was known to many, will be missed in this community and by his family.
Children who survive are:
Harland Higgins, and Mrs. Dorothy Woodward, Coweta, OK.;
Mrs Willetta McCollum, Tahlequah, OK;
Mrs Della Martin, Blackwell, OK;
Garth Higgins, Broken Arrow, Ok.
Edd S Higgins, Sapulpa, OK;
Robert O Higgins, Durham, OK.
and Fourteen Grandchildren.
