Mr. Jerry L. Stephens, age 63 of Carrollton, passed away suddenly Monday, January 23, 2012.

Mr. Stephens was born June 6, 1948 in Munford, AL the son of Winnie Sue Haynes Stephens and the late Lowell Stephens. He was a United States Veteran having served in The Air Force for over 33 years. During his service to his country he served in Vietnam, Desert Shield and Iraqi Freedom and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Mr. Stephens was an Apprentice Instructor at The Mechanical Trade Institute and was a member of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Service Technicians Local 72.

Survivors include his wife Janice Wade Stephens; mother Winnie Sue Haynes Stephens, Munford; sons and daughter-in-law, Jason Wade Stephens, Buchanan, Justin Lee Stephens, Newnan, Jamie and Delinda Stephens, Villa Rica, grandchildren, Matthews Stephens, Cumming, Jessica Dawn Stephens, Buchanan, Zeke Wade Stephens, Villa Rica, Hayden Chase Stephens, Villa Rica, Davin Lee Stephens, Newnan: sisters, Barbara Sue Hurst, Talladega, Kathy Shropshire, Munford, Jane Burns, Munford; brothers, Joe Tom Stephens, Munford, Rusty Stephens, Munford, and Charles Stephens, Munford and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Nell Watts.

The family will receive friends at J. Collins Funeral Home Saturday, January 28 from 12 until 3 P.M. Following the visitation Military Honors will be given by The United States Air Force Honor Guard. In accordance with the families wishes the body will be cremated following the visitation
