HOPE -- James E. Crussel, 83, of Hartsville died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Crussel was postmaster at Hartsville Post Office from 1970 to 1981 and was a farmer most of his life. He was a member and former Sunday school superintendent at Newbern United Methodist Church and a member of National Assocition of Retired Federal Employees.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Newbern United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phillip Brenneman officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Newbern United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Bartholomew County July 9, 1919, Mr. Crussel was the son of James Edward and Flossie Swaim Crussel. He married Dorothy P. Romine June 3, 1939.

Survivors include a son, Robert E. Crussel of Greensburg; a brother, Howard Crussel of Hartsville; and grandsons, Nate and Mike Crussel, both of Greensburg

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who died Aug. 15, 1995; and one sister.
