Elizabeth Ann Wombold, 72, a retired licensed practical nurse, of Great Falls, passed away of natural causes on Friday, April 27th at a Great Falls care facility.
Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2nd in the Rose Room at Croxford Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Rose Room. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, James Wombold of Great Falls; daughters, Mary (Terry) Birnie of Spokane, WA, Linda McElemeel of Rockford, IL, Judy (John) Adams of Bozeman, MT, Marcella (Dwight) Dahl and Laurie (Mike) Kelleher of Great Falls, MT; sons, Mel Yelvington, Mike Yelvington, and Mitch Yelvington all of Great Falls, Matt (Jean) Yelvington of Joliet, IL and Dale Wombold of Great Falls. Additional survivors include her brother, Roger (Linda) Salois of Great Falls, and sisters Ethel McKnight of Great Falls and Jean (Bill) Walker of Hobson; as well as 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was born August 4, 1939 in Choteau, Montana, a daughter of Jack Sangray and Eleanor (Salois) Sangray. She and Kiford Yelvington were married in Great Falls in 1955. They later divorced and she and James Wombold were married in Great Falls in 1964. Elizabeth attended Great Falls VoTech and in 1975 became a licensed practical nurse. She had worked at the former Cascade County Nursing Home from 1960 until 1968 as a nurses' aide and also then worked there from 1975 until 1995 as an LPN. She then did private duty nursing from 1995 until 1998.
She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, flowers and houseplants. When her children were young, she enjoyed camping and hunting with them, and fishing was a favorite pastime. She also loved the horseraces and had shared the ownership of race horses.
