Andrew was the only son of William Hay Getty and Elizabeth Oldfield. On March 10, 1872, he married Martha Jane Stallsworth. They had one child, Ella Gertrude Getty. Another daughter died at birth.

DEATH OF ANDREW GETTY
Prominent Resident of Saluda Township Passed Away at Noon Today.
Mr. C. D. Moreland, received a message shortly after 12 o'clock today advising him of the death of his brother-in-law, Andrew Getty, a resident of Saluda Township, whose death occurred at about noon today. Mr. Getty was a man of about 75 years of age. He had been in failing health for nearly two years, but had not been bedfast for more than two months. His death was thought to be due to infirmaties of age.
Mr. Getty was recognized by his many friends and acquaintances as a highly exteemed citizen and a prosperous farmer in his community. He was born and reared in the same locality in which he died. Besides his wife, he is survied by three sisters, Mrs. Alfred Mills of Seymour; Mrs. Robert Brisben of New Washington, and Mrs. C. D. Moreland of this city. He is also survived by one daughter Mrs. Frank Bruce of Saluda township. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and will be remembered by a wide circle of friends who will learn of his death with much sorrow. No announcement of the funeral arrangements was made.
