The Rev. Walter Richard Blankenship, 75, of Sissonville, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at home, after a short illness. He was a retired welder for the Kanawha County Board of Education and a retired Church of God minister. He was a member of the Mountain State Horseman Association and the Southern West Virginia Horseman Association and a former member of the Jackson County Horse Club, the Chemical Valley Horsemans and the Elk River Boot and Saddle Club. He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Surviving: wife, Ruth Blankenship; sons, Ronald R. and William R. Blankenship, of Sissonville, Donald E. Blankenship of Joplin, Mo.; brother, Delbert Blankenship of Sissonville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
