He was born March 16, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wis., to William and Sarah (Story) Shatto. They moved to Duluth in June of 1936.
Jack served in the U.S. Army as a cook for two years during the Korean War and continued working as a cook for 14 years in civilian life. He followed that with 30 years in the nursing profession helping others. He was loved dearly by his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was an active member of the church and many clubs and organizations giving to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Edward, Robert, Henry, Harold and Stanley Shatto; son Steven J. Shatto; and grandchildren Sarah H. Shatto and John J. Shatto II.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alvera; sons John D. (Milli) Shatto of Duluth, David P. Shatto (Erik Thorson) of Minneapolis, Terry L. Shatto Sr. of Osceola, Wis., and Mark S. Shatto of Ashland; a brother Walter R/C (Joanne) Shatto of Duluth; sister Catherine A. Hanten of Duluth; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
