| Birth: | Apr. 17, 1930 | | Death: | Dec. 6, 2009 |  RIVERSIDE LORNE EDWARD CARTER Lorne Edward Carter departed this life on December 6, 2009. Ed was born in Cleveland Ohio on April 17, 1930 to Lorne and Katherine Carter. He graduated from Cleveland Rhodes High School in 1948 and then attended Case Western University. He graduated from Ohio University in 1953 where he was a Mid American Conference wrestling champion. He entered the United States Air Force in 1953 and served as a Navigator on the KC-97 and KC-135 tankers which included assignments in Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, and Alaska.
His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross and Meritorious Service medal.
He retired as a Major at March AFB, California in 1974 and has since resided in Riverside where he was a manager at Denny's and several local hardware stores. He was an avid golfer, gardener, carpenter and little league coach. He was active in St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Riverside where he served as a parish council member and lector. Ed is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 58 years, his sister, Kay Barto of Detroit Michigan; children Jim, Linda, Joanne, Bonnie Collins, Tim, Patty Hinojos and Lorne, 12 grand children; Danny and Naomi Brown, Kevin Carter, Julie Stefanik, Mary Harasyn, Christina, Travis and Nick Carter, Michael and Melissa Hinojos, and Lorne and Matt Carter, 4 great grand children; Danny, Dylan, Dakota and Devon Brown.
