Professional Football Player, Professional Baseball Player. After graduating from Joliet Central High School in Illinois, he broke into the major leagues as a pitcher with the Washington Senators in 1918. With only moderate success, he turned his attention to football. Beginning in 1920, he played six years of professional football as a center and guard. In 1920 he played with the Chicago Tigers of the American Professional Football Association. He played on the Chicago Cardinals from 1921 to 1924. In 1926 he played on the Chicago Bulls of the American Football League. In 1925, he turned his attention back to baseball. From 1925 to 1927 he had some success as the fifth starting pitcher for the Cleveland Indians. After a slow start in 1928 he was released and signed with the New York Giants. He only pitched one game for them, giving up six runs in 3.2 innings. He finished with a 30-39 record in 108 games in the major leagues.
