College Football Player. As a place-kicker and offensive guard, he was Stanford's first two-time All-American in 1932 and 1933. He helped take Stanford to the Rose Bowl in 1934. His two field goals on November 11, 1933, were the difference in the game against favored University of Southern California. That win gave Stanford the Pacific Coast Conference title and earned them a berth in the Rose Bowl. That game began a streak in which Stanford became the first team to play in three straight Rose Bowl games. He got his nickname because of his youthful appearance and athletic ferocity. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1957. (bio by: Mel Bashore)
