IDA HALL COFER:
83 years, 7 months, 3 days

SMITHFIELD — Mrs Ida Hall "Grandma" Cofer was a beloved mother of 9, grandmother, and friend; she was resided at home when she went to heaven. She was a native of Smithfield, Virginia. She departed this world peacefully at home with a smile. I remember grandmother affectionately called "grandma" was an excellent cook. She was way before her time when it came to preparing home cooked meals to feed her large family plus folks from the neighborhood when they stopped by, she always seem to have more than enough… When she came to visit her relatives that lived out of state; she always ended up in the kitchen preparing wonderful & delicious "whole wheat" diner rolls along with various other treats. She loved to sit and catch fish all day and was GREAT at it; she loved to fry up whatever it was that we caught. As grandma was a great cook I loved to watch her in action when she was in the kitchen. She taught me the basics of the cooking & the baking process. One main thing that she taught me was to clean up after yourself as you went along; it sure made for easier cleanups after it was all said and done… Because we had two families living close to one another in the same state and town she divided her time equally during her what seemed to be very brief visits that was greatly cherished. She leaves to treasure her memory, sons, John H., Theodore, Sr., Peter M., Wilbur L. and their wives; daughters, Richie Elmira Bolton, Bertha L. Cocker and their husbands; and Rosetta. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom; and son, Morris. She also leaves a host dear friends who treasure her memory. She also has a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved and miss her very much.
