City Locals

Mr. D. F. Griffin and Mrs. Lena Cotton were married at the latter's home last Thursday night in the presence of a few intimate friends. Justice G. P. Dickinson performed the ceremony. The contracting parties are well known citizens of this community and have many friends who wish them much happiness. They will live on a farm a few miles west of Davis.

Griffin Rites Held Sunday

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Lena Griffin, 83, who had been ill for nine years. She died Nov. 10 in the Hale's Nursing home, Davis.

Rites were conducted in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Carlos Berry officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery, and Bahner Funeral home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Griffin was born June 25, 1878, at Bland, Texas, where she lived her early life. She had been a resident of Davis since 1901, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Willie Warren, Tom Jamison, Joe Zeleniak, Bobbie Riddle, George McFarland, and Herbert Garrison.

Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Perman Strickland, Sr., of Davis, and Mrs. R. J. Love of Stillwater; three step-daughters, Mrs. Bill Dixon of Davis, Mrs. Clarence Wheelus, both of Salinas, Calif.; two sons, Claud Cotton of Pauls Valley, and Clay Griffin of San Diego, Calif.; a step-son, Demus Griffin of San Diego, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Ridgeway and Mrs. Ella Strickland, both of Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Garland Dodson of Davis; a brother, Floyd Dodson of Honolulu, Hawaii; 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
