Elsie Arleen (Jenny) Pamenter, 86, of Great Falls, a retired secretary, died Sunday at a local hospital from complications of a fall.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday at Stanford Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, George, of Great Falls; children George W. (Ruth) Pamenter Jr. of Anaconda, and Anita (Tom) Gioconda of Washington, D.C.; and grandsons Tommy, Tony and T.J. Gioconda, and George III and Stephen Pamenter.
Elsie was born Aug. 27, 1923, the only child of Rudy and Gladys Jenny. She was born on the farm south of Benchland, and raised and educated in that area. She attended grade school at Benchland, and graduated from Moccasin High School. She also attended colleges in Bozeman and Billings, and did postgraduate work at the College of Great Falls.
She taught school for five years, the last year being at Russell Elementary in Great Falls.
On Nov. 12, 1946, she married George Wilson Pamenter. Elsie was the first faculty secretary when the College of Great Falls moved to its new campus. She worked there for 5 years. She was legal secretary for the firm of Scott and Linnell for two years, the medical secretary for Montana Heart Diagnostic Center, State Department of Health, with offices in the Deaconess Hospital, for 11 years, retiring in 1979.
Elsie was a member of Westside Methodist Church and part-time organist from 1995, until declining vision forced her to resign. She was the past president and organist of Social Order of Beauceant, Great Falls Assembly No. 113, and served as Worthy Matron of Olive Chapter No. 10, Order of Eastern Star, in 1956-57 and 1981-82. She was organist for Olive Chapter for many years, and served as grand organist for the state in 1986.
In her younger years, Elsie worked with the Boy Scouts, Bluebirds and 4-H. She enjoyed music, especially the piano and organ; painting in oil and watercolor, all crafts, the computer and gardening
