Walter Wryn, Former Teton Farmer, Passes Away in Portland

Walter E. Wryn, former Teton county farmer and World war veteran, passed away recently in Portland. His death was due to ailments contracted during the war, and at the time of his passing he was being treated in Portland. Mr. Wryn is a brother of Roger Wryn of Fairfield and Mrs. E. Wryn of Great Falls. The remains were laid to rest in the soldiers plot in Highland cemetery in Great Falls.

Fairfield Times: The deceased saw active service in the World war and was gassed. On being mustered out of the service he was given a total disability award. Since that time he has been subject to periodic attacks of illness but during intervals between he appeared to be in good health and at such times was aggressively active and in exuberant spirits. He was married upon his discharge from the hospital some time after the close of the war, his wife having been a nurse in a Great Falls hospital where he had been a patient. Two children were born of this union.

For some years following his discharge, Mr. Wryn was engaged in farming and ranching in the Lewistown country, but more recently farmed in the Lake Basin country west of Fairfield. About two years ago, owing to his continued confinement to the hospital, the family moved to Great Falls and they are now living there. Mr. Wryn had lately been under treatment in a veterans' hospital in Portland where he had been taken from the hospital in Fort Harrison.

Mr. Wryn was a likable man and if he had his health would probably have made considerable of a success. His death marks the second offering of an aged mother and other relatives have been called upon to make to their country in connection with the World war. Another son and brother, Stanley Wryn, died in the debarkation hospital in at about the time of the close of the war.
