Waco News-Tribune, July 26, 1954, Page 2, Column 5 - "Rev. Raborn, 81, a retired Baptist minister, died at his home in Milford at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. -- Funeral services will be held in Compton Funeral Home chapel Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Joe English and Rev. Mr. Long officiating, burial in Oakwood Cemetery. -- Rev. Raborn was born in Whitney on May 25, 1873. He was a former resident of Waco where he was the 49th member of The 40 Singers. Since retiring from the ministry in 1945, he had lived in Milford. He had held pastorates in Bedford, Md., New Boston, Ohio, Ashland, Ky., and Williamson, W. Va. His wife died in 1947. -- Survivors include four dauthters, Mrs. T. K. Speer of Frost; Mrs. E. L. Leamon of Chicago; Mrs. C. E. Douglas of Waco; Mrs. Joe Clanton of Milford; six sons, J. L. Raborn of Waco; Rev. W. R. Raborn of Carlisle, Ky.; Paul Raborn of Waco; Rufus Sam Raborn of Beckley, W. Va.; Edward L. Raborn of Dallas; Elton M. Raborn of Teague; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Raborn of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Ludie Gilbert of Houston; two brothers, Will Raborn of Oklahoma City and Harold Raborn of Houston."
