69-Year Resident of Mesquite Area Succumbs at Home
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Coats, 80, died Friday at her home near Mesquite. She had been a resident of the community sixty-nine years.
Mrs. Coats was born in Iowa and came to Texas in 1879. She was the widow of R. Lee Coats. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Ketron of Mesquite; two sons, Albert Coats of Dallas and Ira E. Coats of Coppell; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ben Amburn of Mesquite.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Mesquite, the Rev. Grover Lewis, the Rev, Ray Hand, the Rev. Perry King and the Rev. Paul E. Farrell will officiate. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery near Mesquite.
