Matthew Joseph Chouinard, 56, of Riley Township, died suddenly September 6, 2008 from a motorcycle accident.
Matthew was born February 19, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Vern Chouinard & the late Betty (nee: Paff) Chouinard. He attended Clawson High School and after his graduation in 1970, he started working as a test driver, and then later became a mechanic.
He worked his way to become the Garage Supervisor for the Michigan Proving Ground in Romeo with Ford Motor Company, where he just recently celebrated his 30 year Anniversary.
Matt loved to spend time with family and friends. In his spare time you could catch him watching NASCAR, or traveling on his 2007 Harley Dyna Low Rider. He loved the rock star Bob Seger and listening to his favorite song "Old Time Rock and Roll". Many say that family was Matt's first priority. Nothing would make him more proud when he could tell a story about one of his kids or grandkids. He enjoyed life to the fullest and that's how many will remember him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Cheryl (nee: Rubin), and his dear children, Tim Chouinard, Erin (Ryan) Derisley, Melissa (Kurt) Brandi, and Brittney Chouinard.
Matt was also a devoted grandfather of Alex, Ella, Cole, and Dylan.
He was the brother of Susan (Glen) Dunaj, Martin (Jayne) Chouinard, Stacie (Steve Ball) Chouinard, Sibyl (John Hillier) Chouinard.
Brother-in-law of Debbie (Jim) Shillenn, Kimmy Minard, and Robin Ryan.
He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
He will also be greatly missed by his companions, Snickers, Bailey and Texaco.
Matthew was predeceased by his parents, Vern & Betty Chouinard; his brother, Mark Chouinard; and his parents-in-laws, Bill & Mabel Rubin.
Now he is home with his loved ones, but will be greatly missed here by those that were left behind.
Visitation will be held Tuesday 5-9 pm and Wednesday 2-9 pm with a Rosary Service at 7 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile).
Mr. Chouinard will lie in state Thursday at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 581 E. Fourteen Mile in Clawson. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Father Hoang Lam.
