Mandy DeLange, age 17, passed away on October 23, 2005 due to an automobile accident which took the lives of Mandy and her father, Glynn DeLange. She was born on September 30, 1988, in Baraboo, to Glynn And Ellen (Wanless) DeLange. She enjoyed playing volleyball, spending time with her family and friends, listening to music and babysitting. She was a talented drawer, painter and wrote meaningful poetry. Mandy had a zest for life, was a happy and funloving girl, who was a friend and a good listener. She was an active member of her church. Mandy had a smile that was bright and a heart full of gold. She was a joy and a blessing who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
This is one of her poems:
For once I was lost, but now I am found.
Was dead, but now I am alive.
I wept for myself, but now I weep for others.
Others, who may not know what love can be.
I was dark & depressed, but now I am light & joyful.
I can't say I won't hurt, but my pain won't be unbearable.
I couldn't love fully, but with grace I can.
My heart breaks for the world, those who may not know...joy, compassion, love, happiness, all that is good.
For they are where I was, where I don't want to return.
Once you've felt, you won't leave, when you've loved, it can be hard to hate.
My prayer is small, I pray you'd change, make
a 180 degree turn.
Flee from the world, & run to God.
Love on Him, & He will love on you...always and forever.
For His love & mercy flow free & will forever.
