Officer Bohlen was struck and killed by a streetcar at Humboldt Avenue and North Broadway in the Sixth District. He was struck by a south-bound streetcar while waiting for a north-bound streetcar.
Officer Bohlen was rushed to City Hospital where he was pronounced at 6:00 PM of shock and injuries due to a fractured skull. The streetcar operator was charged with criminal carelessness.
Officer Bohlen had served with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department for 17 years at the time of this incident.
Officer Bohlen was also a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
Officer Bohlen left to mourn his passing his wife Kate (nee Precht) Bohlen of the home located at 4263 San Francisco Avenue. Son of Christopher and Sophia (nee Precht) Bohlen.
The wake and funeral were held at the Theodore W. Beiderweiden Funeral Home located 1936 St. Louis Avenue.
Internment was at the New Bethlehem Cemetery on 02/04/1925.
