Civil War Confederate Soldier. This southern lad enlisted into Confederate service in Columbia, South Carolina on August 15, 1861. He subsequently served as a Private in the "Columbia Rifles" - Company A, 15th South Carolina Infantry. With a weaken body due to diease, young William "died in the service of his country" at Red Bluff, South Carolina on January 4, 1862. He was 15-years old.
