Civil War Confederate Soldier. Eighteen year old Elijah R. Amick became a comrade of the "Lexington Guards" - Company C of the 15th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry on March 18, 1862. He was wounded-in-action at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863, and was captured the following day. Suffering with a "compound fracture femur", Private Amick languished until his death on September 6, 1863. His father, Private John Henry Amick, served in the ranks of the 15th SC also.

Note: His marker inscription has "EMICK" with the rank of Lieutenant - sources indicate this soldier's highest rank was Private.
