Father George spent his youth in California, and in 1945 came to central California to study at the Novitiate in Los Gatos. According to Father George, "It was a challenging beginning of years of study, prayer and manual labor. A very strict 5 am to 10 pm schedule was modeled on a military type of discipline."
Classics, Mathematics, and Philosophy courses led to his first degree. This was followed by three years of supervised teaching in San Jose, followed by more schooling in theology and ethics. After obtaining his second degree, George spend four more years of continuing degree work in Mathematics and has taught college level classes in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Jose.
Add to that a commercial pilot's license and some practical work in optics and astronomy and it becomes clear that he has led an interesting life! Father George is now in semi-retirement, and the Tutorial Center is very grateful that he volunteers his services to our students.
Father George advises that; "Tutoring requires discipline and patience! Teaching and tutoring are sisters! They both require hearing the other - hearing in depth. Don't miss a good insight of a student, a new solution from your client that may be buried in thoughts trying to find the words. In addition, let them do the work - then you commend and correct as necessary. Be flexible. Above all, perhaps, show respect for tutees as persons."
According to Father George, "My work at West Valley College is a blessing; I can share with young adults and learn with them."

I want to thank Contributor Robert Bee for entering Father George's mother, father, grandparents and other relatives on this site. I appreciate you doing this very much.
