Birth: unknown
Death: Feb. 2, 2007

Anthony T. Catania on February 2, 2007, in the line of duty suffered a stroke. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (nee Walewski), cherished father of Lisa Flood ( frank), Donna Devine (Alfred) and Luke Catania (Suzanne), and adored Grandpa of Marissa, Christopher, Luke Anthony and Aidan. Tony's life lesson to us all was to give back to those less fortunate and to the communities we live in. Tony also had a soft side for animals, which included his three cats (the guys) and countless other wild animals including squirrels, birds and feral cats that he cared for. Tony served as a Volunteer firefighter for nearly 40 years, eventually serving as Chief of the North Massapequa Fire Department. For the last ten years, he was an active member of the Middle Island Fire Department and for the last seven years has served as a Commissioner. Tony was also a member of the "Gallon Club", giving blood for many years to the Red Cross. Most recently, he drove the delivery van for Meals on Wheels where those less fortunate than he referred to him as "The Kid". Active until his untimely passing, Tony will be remembered as someone who always gave back to the community and fittingly, died as he lived, answering the call.
