Funeral services for Allene (Allen ) White, 84, of Clifton, were held Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian, Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. White died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton. She was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Meridian, a daughter of the late John and Martha Victoria Crottle Allen. She married Joe J. White, who preceded her in death, on Nov. 24, 1957. She later married Tom White, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2001. She resided in Iredell for several years before moving to Meridian, and she had lived in Clifton for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clifton, and was a retired seamstress supervisor at Wall’s Industries. Family members described her as a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed good conversation, and found great pleasure in crafts, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her Lord and Savior. She was known as “Grandma” to her five step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. White is survived by a daughter, Darlene and husband James Carter of Arlington; a son, Don R. and wife Gladys White of Clifton; stepsons Russell and wife Frances White of Washington, TX, and Garvis and wife Sue White of Vidor; grandchildren Kimberly and husband Jason Smith of Allen, Kristy White of Stephenville, Kevin White of Plano, and Kelly and husband Grant Chapman of McKinney; and great-granddaughter Brittany Smith. Pallbearers were Russell White, Garvis White, Charles White, Weldon Josey, Kevin White, Jason White, and James Carter. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
