Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Winnfield for Winn Parish merchant J. Howard Kelley, 60, of Winnfield.

Officiating at the 2:00 p.m. service were Reverend Grayson B. Watson, Dr. Calvin Phelps, and Reverend Robert W. Gage. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.

Mr. Kelley was a veteran of World War II and a member of Payne-Johnson Post Number 3800. He was also formerly associated with the Lions Club and American Legion.

Mr. Kelley, who was a native of Winnfield, died Saturday evening at his business establishment following a sudden illness.

He is survived by his wife, Florene Gaar Kelley of Winnfield; two sons, George Michael Kelley of Shreveport, J. Maxwell Kelley of Winnfield; two daughters, Markeita Kelley and Miriam Skains, both of Winnfield.

Mr. Kelley is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Bertie Kelley of Winnfield; five brothers, T. G. "Bill" Kelley and Beauford [sic Buford] Kelley, both of Winnfield, Charles H. "Pete" Kelley of Bernice, LA., Bobby Kelley of Houston, TX., and Robert F. "Whimpy" Kelley of Metairie, LA.; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Harrison of Winnfield, and one granddaughter, Heather Kay Kelley of Shreveport.

Pallbearers were friends and business associates from Winnfield.
