Widow of Louis Austermell who is buried in Hermann City Cemetery, Hermann, Mo. Died at Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Austermell and her daughter Mrs. H. Lessel, wife of the trainmaster of the "Frisco Road", were on their way to Kansas City from Monett, Mo., when she was taken ill on the train, and being unable to go farther, they stopped at Springfield, where she died a few hours later.
Mrs. Austermell was born in Philadelphia in 1817, and came to Missouri with her husband in 1837. She had been a Sister of Rebecca for nearly fifty years, her husband being the oldest Odd Fellow in the state at the time of his death, which occurred a year ago.
She was the mother of Dr. J.J. Austermell and Mrs. Dr. Jokshan Freyman, of Kansas City, Rev. J. J. and W.T. Austermell of Los Angeles California, and Lewis W. Austermell of Chicago.
