Mrs. Doris Blount, 34, was found dead in the back yard of her home at 260 Magnolia Avenue, Riverview, about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Blount died of a 20-gauge shotgun wound in the abdomen, apparently self inflected, Police Chief Eugene Ellis said.
She was dead when found, Ellis continued. A note was left on the kitchen table. She was at home alone at the time of her death, Ellis added.
The investigation had not been completed Wednesday afternoon and it had not been determined whether a coroners's jury would be called, Coroner Francis Williams stated.
Funeral arrangements were not complete Wednesday afternoon.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Blount, and two children, one of whom is four months old.
