June Rose Holt Ames passed away at the age of 85.
June was born one of three children to Jack and Alta Lee Holt. She married Daniel Clark William "Bill" Ames on Oct. 22, 1939, in Salmon, Idaho, and they raised four sons: Clark, Don, Daniel and Jack. The couple lived throughout Oregon where Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator. They also moved to California in the early 1940s and worked. In 1972 they moved to Gibbonsville, Idaho, and made their home. It was there that they owned and operated the 93 Club. They made many friends and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party at the 93 Club. After Bill retired they moved to Salmon. They enjoyed fishing and camping. They loved the Salmon area and the people. Bill passed away July 1, 1997, and June continued to live in Salmon. June treasured Scottie dogs and had several black Scotties of which the last two were named Duffy. Those who knew June remember her as a wife, mother, sister and friend, and each would say "she was the best, she was a lady." June is survived by her four sons: Don and Connie Ames who although is a step-child, was in June's heart; her son of Elk Bend, Idaho; Clark Ames of Phoenix, Ariz.; Dan Ames a longtime Salmon resident who, with Don and Connie, helped care for their mother during the last few years; and Jack and Debra Ames of Maui, Hawaii; one brother Oliver Holt of Northridge, Calif.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, sister Dorothy, son Bill and Rose Ames and daughter Marge and Bob Grieve.
