Casualty of the Great War, Victor served with the Army Ordnance Corps~Service No:A/1236,attached 8th Bn. Royal Scots.He was 22.


His brother, Driver Reginald Leonard Ronald Bowes aged 22, also fell.He died 31st August 1917 whilst serving with the Royal Engineers
and rests in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery.


They were sons of Peter and Alice Jane Bowes of Fort Pitt Military Hospital, Chatham and they are remembered on the family grave at Fort Pitt Military Cemetery, Rochester, Kent.

At the 1901 England Census, he was shown as Victor Harrold Bowes, born about 1893 in Chatham, and Household Members were:

Alice Jane Bowes 40
Thomas William Bowes 13
Edgar Alfred Bowes 10
Victor Harrold Bowes 8
Reginald Leonard Bowes 6
Victoria Gladys Mary Bowes 3

-and then at the 1911 England Census he was a Boarder, aged 18 at 17 Salisbury Road, Enfield Lock, Middlesex, single and a soldier [Armourer] with the rank of Private in the Army Ordnance Corps.
