He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Kelly, his two daughters, and his son. Also by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his in-laws. He was predeceased by his son, Lawrence Junior. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit in 1962, and from the Detroit College of Law, cum laude, in 1966. He was employed full time by the Chrysler Corporation, while he was in college.

He was employed as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan, at the time of his passing. He was sworn in on June 6, 1986, and had been appointed by President Ronald Reagan. He spent 28 years on the federal bench. He was Chief Judge of the Eastern District for seven years, and served on the Judicial Conference of the United States, with a term as Chairman of the Committee on Judicial Security. Before his time with the District Court, he practiced law in Detroit and Macomb County, and had taught at the Detroit College of Law. The Funeral Service was held at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, in Bloomfield Hills. Arrangements by Kaul Funeral Home, in St. Clair Shores. .fpsuja25.
